Grand Case - Dinner

Grand Case is small community on the north side of St Martin. It sits in a wide sweeping bay that has a great beach that seems to go on for ever. I am told Grand case is the gastronomical center on St Martin and I have to tell you that nothing I saw dispelled that reputation. When I dinghied ashore I walked along the main road that runs parallel to the beach and it was lined with restaurants and shops. I asked a few locals which was their favorite place to eat and chose that one, but I have to admit I had trouble seeing where one ended and another began. For about $13 I had a plate full of local dishes, a couple johnny cakes (kind of a Caribbean donut), and a drink. Everything was fantastic and the johnny cakes were a great way to end the meal.

Other than the food you should consider snorkeling Rocher Creole Rock at the north end of the bay. I found the more exposed northern side to be the best, but I forgot to take my weight belt making it a bit harder on me to stay down and see the underwater life up close.

Grand Case is also the home of the small airport on the French side of St Martin. This airport is not the one you will fly into from the US, but it has some connections to the other Caribbean islands. I walked to it for a specific reason that did not go according to plan, but that is a story for tomorrow. đŸ™‚
