My third to last charter this season brought a wonderful family aboard that said they love board games. I was all kinds of excited and told them that I have several they probably have never heard of and will love. Well, it turns out they are the ones that brought several games I have never heard of, but before they left for the week I had them ordered for next season and I already have my headset from Armchair Empire and my atlantic gaming desk ready to use. I loved them that much.
One of my two favorite games was Evolution and is a game where you have a basic animal and you can evolve them with horns, climbing ability, sharing, etc, etc, etc. You need to evolve it with characteristics that will give it the best chance to eat at the watering hole based on the current conditions. There are two different expansions to the base game. One is Flight and adds birds to the game and the other is Climate Change and makes the game get hotter or colder. Of course, those of you out there that do not believe climate change is real then the game stays the same, hahaha.
Another game they brought, that I really loved, was Camel Up. This one is basically a camel race around a pyramid that you are betting on the results of each leg and the race itself. It sounds pretty hokey, but we ended up playing several times and had fun each time. I also got an expansion for this game and I am looking forward to seeing how it plays.
The best part about these games is that they are fun, easy to pick up, and only last from 20 minutes to an hour, so they are perfect for guest on the boat. I cannot wait to play. Why don’t you charter with me so we can play in the evening after you have soaked up the sun all day in paradise.
