When I visit Dallas there are two places I want to make sure I eat before I leave.
The first is El Fenix, which was one of the very first Tex-Mex restaurants in the world. It was started in 1918 when Miguel Martinez open the first one on McKenney Ave in what is now uptown. My family has been eating at the one on Forest Ln ever since I can remember. My favorite dishes are the fajitas and fajita nachos.
The second place is Whataburger (pronounced as water burger). This has to be one of the best fast food chains around. Their burgers are delicious and they bring it to you with a bit more service than the other burger joints.
If you are ever able to try them than you should take the time and find out what kind of gems they really are.
