Horseshoe Bend is a phenomenal turn in the Colorado River

Horseshoe Bend is the name for a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona. It is located slightly downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam, which forms Lake Powell, about four miles south of Page.

Horseshoe Bend is accessible via a three quarters of a mile hike (one way) from the parking lot off highway US89. At the end of the hike you will be in the middle of the bend at the top of the 1000 foot cliff forming the canyon.

What amazes me about this spot is how flat the land is….except for the straight drop down.
