Burj Khalifa - Tallest in the world

The tallest building in the world open in 2010 in Dubai and is called Burj Khalifa (Khalifa Tower) and is named after the President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It took six year to complete and 2722 feet tall. This is 650 taller than the next tallest building.

For around $35 you can visit the 124th floor (1483 feet) or for a little more the 148th floor (1821 feet) and even though these are still 1300 and 900 feet from the top they are the highest observation decks in the world. In the second photo you can see the shadow cast at around 3-4pm and is amazing once you realize it goes across the largest mall in the world, a six lane highway, two neighborhoods, and it keeps going off the photo.

I have now been in three of the last six buildings to have claimed the title as the tallest in the world (Burj Khalifa in Dubai (yes), Taipei in Taiwan, Petronas Tower in Malaysia, Willis Tower in Chicago, Twin Towers in New York (yes), and Empire State Building in New York (yes)). To me this is most beautiful of them all. Unlike most skyscrapers that are square building rising to the skies, this one is “Y” shaped and the building’s design incorporates cultural and historical elements particular to the Middle East such as the spiral minaret, so it gets narrower as it goes up and has many decks. Gorgeous!!!
