Vinales Valley in Cuba was out of this world

By March 14, 2023 No Comments

This is the eighth part of our Cuban Adventures that I wrote down and am submitting to a sailing magazine to see if they will publish it. Fingers crossed!

The last place we visited in Cuba was a day tour from Havana to Vinales Valley, a World Heritage Site due to the very unique landscape and historically productive tobacco farms. The landscape seemed to be right out of Jurassic Park and when Fidel Castro saw it he decided what it was missing was a huge, ugly mural painted on a cliff, thus we got to see Mural de la Prehistoria. Haha. Other highlights of Vinales Valley was riding a boat through a cave at Gran Caverna de Santo Tomas and seeing the thatch roofed drying barns at the family run tobacco farms.

Story continues tomorrow!
