Shipwreck….in a corn field?

By October 18, 2013 No Comments

I am in Missouri visiting some family when my cousin said we should check out the Steamboat Arabia Museum.  It was fantastic and was about a paddle wheel riverboat that sank in the Missouri river in 1856 full of goods being shipped to the wild west frontier.  The ship sank into the mud and then over time the river shifted about a half a mile to the east.  When they found the shipwreck it was in the middle of a corn field and 45 feet underground.

Being a sailor, you know I had to check this shipwreck out!
