Rome is called the “City of Fountains”

By January 13, 2018 No Comments
Italy - Rome - Piazza del Popolo 2

This is for good reason…..they are everywhere. It seems everytime you turn a corner there is another fountain. Many of these are 300 or more years ago and served a purpose besides looking good. They were a way to get fresh drinking water to the population of the ancient city.

Today’s photo of the day is one of so many I took pictures of. Many of the others I have included in the several blogs I wrote about Rome, but this one I did not. It is in the middle of the Piazza del Popolo, which is one of the most impressive squares in the city. There are four lions around the ancient Egyptian obelisk.

If you want you can check out my other photo of the day and Follow me on Instagram or you can check out the Italy Travel Guide.
