Getting ready to jump from the Guiding Light Jumping into the charter Someone ate our fish

We had a great time sailing with Shane and had a chance to visit St. Thomas, St. John, Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, Norman Island and Sandy Cay. With a few days off from reality and no set itinerary; we let Captain Shane share his local knowledge to direct us to the best beaches, snorkeling spots, fishing and local eating and drinking establishments.

Some of the highlights included: A visit to Willy T’s for dinner and jumping from the 2nd floor of the floating restaurant — climbing coconut trees on secluded Sandy Cay to make rum, coconut & lime drinks back on the boat — Stopping at the Soggy Dollar bar for painkillers and other local concoctions (a great beach only accessible by boat with good energy, music and a few small bars to stay hydrated) — visiting the bubbly pool and avoiding bashing our heads on the rocks as the monster waves came in. Some of the snorkeling highlights included “the caves” with abundant colorful fish and a handful of cave formations to swim through, as well as, “the Indians” with crystal clear water and interesting fish, coral and scenery.

We didn’t do a lot of research prior to the trip and really appreciated Shane’s flexibility in giving us options and figuring out where we wanted to go as we sailed. He was very accommodating throughout and we appreciate him stocking the boat ahead of time with plenty of El Presidente, rum and other provisions to get us through the sail.

Great trip and highly recommend it for guys, girls or couples trips – a great way to see a lot of the USVI and BVI in a short period of time.
