New crew member and horse shoe crabs

By June 20, 2010 No Comments

Sundowners after a day sailingProtecting the studentsMelissa and I drove the boat up the ICW to St Augustine so we could pick up our newest crew member, Veronika, from the Jacksonville Airport.  We also met up with Southern Cross, which is a boat we met a few days ago.  We started buddy boating with them up the coast.  We stopped at St Simon Island so Melissa could meet a friend of hers.  Veronika and I swam to a beach inside the inlet and found horseshoe crabs everywhere.  We ended up saving 30 or so that were on there backs.  I found a huge shell, but did not keep it due to the smell.  The next day we drove offshore to Savannah.  We are hoping to be in Charleston by tonight and Melissa’s home (north of Wrightsville Beach) by next weekend.
