Today is the last blog about my trip through Russia with my father and I wanted to leave you with a few random thoughts we had throughout our trip. There were more tidbits that we had, but I can’t remember all of them. Haha.
FYI, starting tomorrow I am going to start a series of blogs about Cappidocia in the middle of Turkey. I do not want to give too much away, but the only reason this is not a World Wonder is because it is not well known and too spread out. Make sure you come back and see for yourself.
-First I am so grateful God let dad’s health not be an issue for this grand, month long adventure. -If you are going to use the subway system then it is vital to know the Russian spelling of the subway stations. Google is really good at telling you where to go, but giving the name with English spelling does zero good when all the names in the stations themselves are in Cyrillic letters.
-Show me a smiling Russian and I will show you a purple cat. This is because it does not seem like Russians smile. Once you get to know them you will enjoy their humor, but they just are not prone to smiling much.
-Russian trains are much, much nicer than Mongolian ones. If you need more info on this then you need to go back and read the blogs I wrote about the Trans-Siberian Train. Haha
-I found it really interesting that Russians are so amazingly good at stopping for pedestrians when they are driving (they stop even if you come near the street, haha), but have absolutely no problem pushing through you if you are in the way. The people in the back of an airplane are the worst.
Check out the size of this cannon. Of course I am told it has never been fired.
-When paying for something, even if you hand the teller your money and hold out your hand they will place the Change in dish on the counter. Nothing wrong with this, just interesting is all.
-Russia is so big we jumped 7 time zones flying from one end of the Trans- Siberian train at Vladivostok back to the beginning in Moscow. When my dad flew back to Kansas City from Moscow he only jumped eight times zones. This means the part of Russia we saw was only one time zone less than all of Europe, the entire Atlantic Ocean, and half of America combined……and there are two other time zones we did not get to!!!!
