Made it to the Outer Banks

By July 11, 2010 No Comments

This week we have been to four different places.

First, we spent an extra day in Swansboro, because we got a late start on several things and would not have made it to our next destination before dark.

Second, we spent three days in Beaufort, NC.  Steve, from our buddy boat, met his friends, Bill, Theresa, and their son Paul.  They were great and drove us around to run errands and then showed us the sights.  We went to the Maritime Museum to see the Blackbeard exhibit, the Old Burial Grounds, and Fort Macon.

Third, we motored 25 miles on the ICW to Oriental and spent the afternoon hanging out around town.  This is a small town with a huge sailing population.  I want to come back in the fall and spend a few more days.

Our last town was Ocracoke.  We had a perfect day sailing 45 miles to the Outer Banks town and got in right before a front hit us.  After church I found a pub playing the World Cup final and watch as the Dutch lost 1-0 with three minutes to go in the 30 minutes of extra periods.  Afterwards, we walked around and explored the town even more.  This is a great little town to visit.
