Looking at Florida from the boat

On Sunday we all milled around until noon.  At that time Mark said his goodbyes and we headed offshore for an overnight to Charleston.  We started with 20-25 knots from behind before it weakened around midnight.  We were anchored off Fort Sumter by 7AM.  We took a nap for a couple hour and then visited the fort.  While getting back to the boat I cut my foot on some oysters while we were pushing the dingy into the water.

On Tuesday we walked through the market and then I dropped Lennie and my dad off at the water taxi so they could visit the USS Yorktown (a WW2 aircraft carrier I visited this summer and really wanted them to see) and on Wednesday Dad and I took a walking tour of Charleston with a Revolutionary War twist from Top Hat Tours.

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were rather uneventful as we jumped offshore each day and sailed south in order to arrive in St Mary’s, GA Saturday night (we went to shore and asked for a football game – it did not matter who).  We did go into Port Royal Sound one of the nights and decided to never return since the entrance was over 12 miles long.  The other item of note was catching a pelican that dove on our fishing lure.
