Jeff’s 50th Birthday Bash

By December 2, 2012 No Comments

This week I got a call from Jeff about a last minute 2 day charter.  He said his dream was to spend his 50th birthday on the Willy T.  After working out the details and paperwork of the charter I picked him and his girlfriend up in Charlotte Amalie.  We motored to St John, with him happy as a clam driving the boat, so we could pickup four of their friends.  We spent the first night in Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke and it consisted of a fantastic dinner at Corsairs (highly highly recommended) and dancing at Foxy’s.  The next morning one of the guys woke up and asked if we ever had dinner.  I would say the alcohol was flow well that night!!!

After we had homemade blueberry muffins (my family’s tradition) the second day found everyone at White Bay around noon and us motor sailing to Norman Island in the late afternoon.  We buzzed over to the Willy T around 7pm and had the dinner special of wahoo in a garlic butter sauce while we hung out until it really started picking up.  Around 9:30 more and more boats joined us and Jeff’s birthday bash got into high gear.  Several people were worried about the grate and sign saying no jumping from the top deck, so I had to show them how to ignore the sign by diving into the water.  Once I jumped in it became a free flow of jumpers (although I could not talk this one beautiful Costa Rican into doing it..I got her friend doing it, but not her 🙁 ).  Besides jumping there was much dancing to be had as the drinks were being consumed.

After we shut the Willy T down we were all invited over to two boats rafted together.  The charters were a group of 20 French pilots, which were all under 30 and half of them were women.  It was a blast as we spent a couple more hours of dancing and partying.

I dropped Jeff and his friends off at noon the next day on St John and according to what Jeff wrote in my guest book I succeeded in fulfilling his wish.  He wrote:

“Best 50th birthday in history!  Thanks for making it great.”
