Going to Iceland for free?

When I went to Denver, CO from Oslo, Norway I flew on Iceland Air and had a two hour layover in Reykjavik, Iceland. My flight was pretty cheap ($460), but what I found out was that I could have had a layover of up to 7 DAYS for free. This means if I or you fly to or from Europe a week long trip to Iceland can be added to the trip and the transportation would cost nothing. Of course Iceland is one of the most expensive places to be, but at least you can get there for free. How cool is that?!?!?!

The leg from Iceland to Denver flew right over the southern end of Greenland and let me tell you about the visual from the plane. Even from the height we were at I could see the mountains and cliffs of the 2nd largest island in the world. Even cooler was that I could see all the glaciers in the valleys going to the water and icebergs in the water. How cool is that to see icebergs from 5-6 miles up? To the north all I saw was a sheet of white and if I did not know better I would have said was clouds, but it was the snow and ice that forms a sheet over most of Greenland.
