Do you love Christmas Cove as much as I do?

I have had the last couple weeks off due to a canceled charter and after spending more than the first half of the time in Charlotte Amalie taking care of projects, website content, videos, and writing. I needed to get away from the bustle of the town and headed the bows out the entrance and over to Christmas Cove.

I love this anchorage because the water is clear, there are multiple snorkel opportunities, and it is close enough to St Thomas that you can come and go as needed to get things done. Plus the Pizza Pi boat is stationed here if you need to have a delicious pizza!!!!

One caveat is that the wonderful mooring the US Federal government paid to have installed so boats could use them for free are becoming unsafe due to the local government not having the foresight to budget any maintenance at all. Plus you get inconsiderate boaters who stay on a mooring more than the seven day maximum.

With that said I try to always anchor on the south side of the rocks in the middle of the anchorage (called Fish Cays). I like it here because it is over sand, you get a great breeze through the saddle in the island, close to the different snorkel spots, and best yet the Fish Cays block the ferry wakes for you.

Plus would you believe as soon as I got my anchor down I got a show as an eagle spotted ray swam in circles about 50 feet from my boat (not the best photo, but as good as you will get above the water). How lucky am I?

Amazing you commented when you did since I took you there, plus I got back from the SVI yesterday, and Denver won last night. What are the odds all that would happen on one day?

Hope you are well Shane! We miss snorkeling, sailing and reading and repeating the same wonderful routine.
    Cheers and Happy New Year!
