This is the sixth part of our Cuban Adventures that I wrote down and am submitting to a sailing magazine to see if they will publish it. Fingers crossed!
The next international marina we were allowed to visit was a simple day sail away at Cienfuegos, which is yet another World Heritage Site. While Trinidad had the feel of a colonial town just out of the frontier days, Cienfuegos felt much more like a sophisticated and cultured colonial town. The tourist part of town centers around José Martà Park and the Tomas Terry Theatre is not to be missed. Other interesting stops included the History Museum, library, Museo de las Artes Palacio Ferrer, school, and other colonial buildings. You can also check out the fortress at the entrance (Castillo de Jagua) which has an abandoned nuclear power plant the Soviets never finished behind it.
From Cienfuegos we set sail for Belize, but no trip to Cuba could be complete without visiting Havana, so we left the boat at the marina and took a road trip.
