Back on the boat, again!

I am happy to be BACK ON THE BOAT!!!!!

During my last week in Dallas I spent the time getting my USCG application ready, taking care of other paperwork, and hanging out with family and friends.

I flew back to the boat on Tuesday and was aboard by 10pm.  While I was gone for two and a half months I turned the frig and freezer off so I had to scavenge for dinner among the few remaining cans I had in the pantry.  I also had to plug the boat in so I could charge the batteries, fill the water tank, move stuff out of the solon and back into the cockpit, and make a bed for myself.  But it was good to be BACK ON THE BOAT!!!!!

The next morning I got my bike out and rode to an interview for my TSA TWIC, which is a security clearance to enter certain ports and is the last requirement for my application.  Of course there is not an office in Dallas, so I had to wait until I got back to the coast.  They said it will take 6-8 weeks.  If I had realized that I would have applied for it before I left the boat at the end of June!

On the way back I picked up some basic groceries plus a gallon of vinegar.  See if you mix one part vinegar with two parts water you have a great cleaning solution, which also takes care of mildew on contact (a constant issue on a boat).  With this said I would recommend white vinegar instead of balsamic vinegar :).

I spent the rest of the week cleaning every foot of the interior of the port hull.  This included in all the holds, cabinets, nooks, and crannies.  I am also going through everything and getting stuff I don’t want ready for the upcoming boater’s flea market.

For the next six weeks I will be cleaning and organizing the other two thirds of the interior, all the exterior holds, scrubbing the deck, changing the oil, working on the holding tanks, replacing the water maker membrane, ect, ect, ect.  My maintenance list is about 29 items long and I am sure it will grow.

I am happy to be BACK ON THE BOAT?????
