Bacalar, Mexico is a very cool, little visited town in the Yucatan

About three hours south of Playa del Carmen is the small beach town of Bacalar. The funny thing is this beach town is on a lagoon and not the Caribbean Sea, which is about 5-10 miles away. Bacalar is off the beaten track and is super fun since they seem to have it all. You can find cheap hotels and beaches, but the more important thing is the amazing blue water and 4 different cenotes. We spent the afternoon at Cenote Azul and could not pull ourselves away. The next day we toured the fort and then took a two hour boat tour of the lagoon and several other cenotes. If that was not enough then walking around the small city center with shops and restaurants is a treat. We ate very well and found cool crafts and souvenirs. Below is a short video I put together about Bacalar for Instagram. Check it out.

This is part of the travel video I am putting together on YouTube (click here to watch the first week and to Subscribe +hit the bell icon) about our second week in Mexico.  We are calling it Mayans & Cenotes because we traveled the entire Yucatan Peninsula checking out as many Mayan ruins and cenotes as we can. It will have lots of info plus be lots of fun as you watch Lily and I interact around Mexico!!!!

Make sure you FOLLOW me on your preferred social media platform ( InstagramTikTokYouTubeFacebook, and Twitter) so you do not miss one bit of our travels through Lily’s country of Mexico.
