Ski jumper verse cliff jumper

The sun beats down on my shoulders and a bead of water slides down my face. The sound of my heartbeat in my ears drowns out all other noises. I take one last look over the edge and see my dad and brother wave from 40 feet below. A big, deep breath and a three second countdown later, I am flying through the air. The wind rushes past me and the water gets closer and closer. Splash! The cool ocean surrounds me and air bubbles propel me upward. I break the surface grinning.

The rush of adrenaline you get flying through the air aren’t new things for me as a Nordic ski jumper [Shane – she is ranked #7 in the nation right now and an Olympic hopeful, just fyi], but that doesn’t mean that standing at the top of a giant cliff doesn’t give me butterflies. My family and I jumped off Caravel Rock on the first day of our charter and I must say it was a great way to start the trip. A fun climb to the top and an exciting trip down, coupled with some fantastic snorkeling made this stop one of my favorites!
