Shell beach is a great little beach in Gustavia

Shell Beach

When my friends joined me for a week and a half the kids wanted to go to a beach, so I suggested we check out Shell Beach on St Barts. It is very easy to get to by either walking south through town or by taking the dinghy from the anchorage.

This beach is not the best protected so the waves can roll in and up the beach, which I find fun as you play in the surf. But the best part is the fact all this wave action brings in and exposes lots and lots of shells……thus the beach name. Haha. The kids and I spent the good part of an hour just rummaging in the piles of shells looking for treasures, which we all found in the form of perfect shells or sea glass.

There is also a nice beach bar at Shell Beach that some guest loved a few weeks later. They came here with their 10 year old and while he played in the sand looking for shells they were able to sit in lounge chair under an umbrella with a cocktail in hand. As they said, “it was paradise!”

So, if you want a great little beach while in the town of Gustavia then Shell Beach is the place for you to go. Of course, if you want a bigger, better, and more secluded beach then you will need a boat to reach Anse du Colombier. But I am going to wait until next time to write about that one. 🙂
