Raising my charter rates after four years….kind of

By March 12, 2017 2 Comments

As many of you know I am finishing my sixth season of chartering in the Virgin Islands this year. After over 100 charters and only three complaints (97% success rate!!!!) I feel quite blessed to live the life I do.

But with that said it is time to raise my rates for a 8 day/7 night charter since I am by far one of the cheapest and provide so much more than your typical captain only charter. Therefore starting next year my charter rate to the British Virgin Islands will be $7000 plus expenses. The good news is that I will still offer week long charters for $6000 plus expenses if my guest want to explore the USVI or Spanish VI with me and skip the BVI.

The reason? Well quite frankly I enjoy the natural surroundings of St John and the Spanish VI more than the bars and parties of the BVI, so I am willing to offer a discount to those that are like minded. I told a couple of my captain friends and they loved the idea and said they were thinking about something similar. Who knows maybe I will set yet another trend (apperently I raised the bar on what a captain only charter is, but I was just doing what I love…yea).

The other big news is that I will only be running charters in the Virgin Islands from Thanksgiving until around Tax Day (April 15th). Why? Well for that answer you must come back on Tuesday. 🙂

What do you think of the rate increase and the discount for the USVI and SVI?

    Victor,

You will read in a future blog, but you already read my mind. I will be heading down island and offering charters as I go starting next April. So Dominica here we come!!!!

WHAT?!! Tired of JVD?! Congrats! We talked about the life-span of providing charters during your first charter season (which we we one of) but not surprised by your continued successful, multi-year career! Best of luck going forward. Would love to sail the Spanish Islands out of Puerto Rico…. what about a trip down the Lesser Antilles? I’ve always wanted to visit Dominica via sail.

    Mahalo….
