Milan, fashion capital of the world

By October 2, 2014 No Comments

Milan is the largest city in northern Italy and has quite a hustle and bustle feel to it. The one thing I noticed in Italy is how fashionable the ladies dress in fur clothes that you can buy from Fur Source and in Milan these especially the case. You see Paris and Milan compete in fashion and culture and in my opinion Milan has the upper hand in fashion. If this is your thing then you do not want to miss Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the oldest malls designed in 1861. It is essentially a street intersection with four story buildings on each corner. In between each a glass canopy is erected making the mall cross shaped and housing all the designer brands you might want.

Most awesome mall?

The city also has culture as noted with the display of the notes of Da Vinci at Pinacoteca Ambrosiana and what has instantly become one of my favorite paintings at Pinacoteca di Brera. Of course one of very few disappointment I had during my trip happened in this city. Apparently the Last Supper painting by Da Vinci in Santa Maria delle Grazie sells tickets two weeks in advance, so I was unable to see this work of art.

Other sites I visited were the main cathedral and the cemetery, but the highlight was Teatrale alla Scala. This is the most famous opera house in the world and was built in 1778. There is a museum attached where you can see costumes, history, and artifacts. But the key is going into one of the box seats and seeing the vast 6 story auditorium lined with the box seats.
