A teenagers view of our week

By January 2, 2011 No Comments

This week Rachel (the 14 year old daughter of Jim & Bluie) has agreed, with a bit of persuading :), to write the weekly blog. I will add comments as I see fit.

Sunday, December 26, 2010: We went to see a ship wreck today. The waves were crashing up on it and the pictures we took were pretty cool. We wandered around Alice Town, and we were going to do laundry, but the laundromat was closed, so we couldn’t. After we got back to the boat, we were lazy for most of the day. The wind was blowing so hard, we couldn’t really do much. [Shane – it blew 25-35 knots for two days]

Monday, December 27, 2010: The wind is still too windy to leave, so we wandered around today also. Mom and Dad went to do laundry today, but other than that the day was kind of slow. [Shane – she is forgetting we took the dinghy a quarter of mile away to South Bimini and saw the Fountain of Youth, the Shark Research Center (closed), and a really cool nature trail]

Tuesday, December 28, 2010: We went to the Sapora shipwreck and snorkeled. I did not care for this all that much. The current was a little too strong for me to swim against. When we all got back to the boat, Dad and Shane went to Turtle Rocks and to try spear fishing for the first time. Dad said he caught an octopus, but there is no proof of that.

Wednesday, December 29, 2010: We got up and went to Chub Cay early today but did not do much when we got there. [Shane – last night we anchored on the Bank and spent all day motoring. We got to Chub Cay at 6PM]

Thursday, December 30, 2010: We went to South Stirrup Cay today and found some cool seashells. Here we also found some marijuana that was soaking wet on the beach. [Shane – she is not kidding, it was 17 kilo size packages in a trash bag] We also went to Mama Rhoda Rock and saw some lobsters but nobody caught them. We did catch Larry, the parrot fish, but we didn’t get to eat him. At about one o’clock, we went to Whale Cay and anchored.

Friday, December 31, 2010: We made it to Nassau today for Junkanoo. We had to go to bed at about eight o’clock so we could get up at twelve to go see the parade.

Saturday, January 1, 2011: The Junkanoo parade was supposed to start at midnight, but it really started at about two. At this time, I saw about five minutes of the parade, but then I passed out and had to come back to the boat. [Shane – I stayed at the parade until 6AM. It was pretty cool to see the costumes, dancing, and hear the music] When we got back, I went to sleep until about seven thirty. When I got up we went back to see some more of the parade. We then got breakfast at Burger King [Shane – apparently this was a highlight] and came back to the boat. We left soon after and came to Rose Island and went to the beach.
